'I don't care what you say, I'm going to use it anyway.'
Three years ago, when training employees to build their Linkedin presence, I was firmly in the 'don't use AI' camp. The fiction author in me is still in that camp (and always will be).
But within months of ChatGPT and Copilot launching, a delegate we were training laughed and said he was going to use AI to write his posts whatever we said.
And we kept seeing it, people posting clearly AI-written content that hadn't been touched, edited or personalised at all.
That's when Andrew and I realised we were fighting the wrong battle.
The question wasn't whether people will use AI, they already were, even if they lied about it.
Wishing something isn't happening doesn't make it not happen.
So the question became not 'how do we stop them' or 'train them out of it' but 'how do we make them use AI properly and still keep thier voice'?
That's why we built Ghostart and the Beigeometer.
It's an AI writing coach that scores your content on five human senses: voice, emotion, rhythm, story and resonance.
You get to use AI but also keep your personality and experience so you aren't churning out beige crap nobody cares about.
Andrew and I spoke about our journey and the evolution of the 'Beige-ometer' in our 'Beyond the Beige' session in last week's summit.
